An unknown writer said, “This Book is the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding; its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character. Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. Follow its precepts and it will lead you to Calvary, to the empty tomb, to a resurrected life in Christ; yes, to glory itself, for eternity.1 Romans 12:2 details for us the importance of renewing the mind with God’s Word. Why renewing the mind is important for soul development is what we’re looking at in this week’s Light on Life.

#S2-047: How To Make Sure You Are An Instrument of Righteousness [Podcast]
by
A college Sophomore was in need of a car and had a series of dreams one night and everything was in yellow, everything! Early the next morning he began to hit the used car lots, looking at one car after another. Finally he found God’s will for him: a yellow car, yellow inside and out. He didn’t even ask to drive it. He just bought it. Turned out to be a lemon. 1 Yellow in your dreams is hardly the way to acquire God’s will. Jesus knew what the Father’s will was for His life. One day Jesus began to share with His disciples some of that plan. He met with some resistance. What lessons can we learn from Matthews account of this encounter?

What Does Offense Have to Do with Living a Fruitful Life?
The Parable of the Sower
by
Jesus gives us the essential reason why we must have our roots in Mark 4:17. The King James uses the word ‘offended’ which means to fall. Jesus is saying, ‘Make sure you allow God’s Word and God’s love to be rooted in you or you will fall away when the enemy sends affliction and persecution your way. People who are rooted in love endure. They endure persecution and affliction. They understand it is for the Word’s sake.
How Can You Become a Man of Understanding?
The Parable of the Sower
by
D.L. Moody said these words on the subject of understanding. “It makes all the difference in the world how we look upon God. Some people fear God, but when they understand that He is their Father, that fear is gone.” 1. How we are to look upon God and God’s Word is laid out for us in the pages of the Bible. You can become a man of understanding.
What Are Fruitful and Unfruitful Places with God?
The Parable of the Sower
by
A rich man said to his minister, “Why is it everyone is always criticizing me for being miserly, when everyone knows that I have made provision to leave everything I possess to charity when I die?”
“Well,” said the minister, “let me tell you about the pig and the cow. The pig was lamenting to the cow one day about how unpopular he was. “People are always talking about your gentleness and your kindness,” said the pig. “You give milk and cream, but I give even more. I give bacon and ham—I give bristles and they even pickle my feet! Still no one likes me. I’m just a pig. Why is this?” The cow thought a minute, and then said: “Well, maybe it’s because I give while I’m still living.” 1. Our desire as believers is to be rich in fruit and good works while we are alive. The Parable of the Sower gives us insights into the realm of fruitfulness showing us exactly how we come to this.

Are you saying ‘Yes’ to things when you should be saying ‘No.’ It’s time to put guilt in it’s place and move up in the things of God.
Do You Have A Truth Teller In Your Life?
by
There were three profound things about Christopher Columbus’ discovery of America. First, when he left Spain he did not know where he was going. Second, when he arrived in the New World he did not know where he was. Third, when he returned to Ferdinand in his court he didn’t know where he had been. In addition, he did it all on borrowed money. Columbus did not know much but he did a great thing simply because He believed He could. He had a level of confidence in his tomorrow or he would have never jumped on that ship. But, believing he could was only one factor to this success story. Columbus did not pilot the ship by himself. He had help. There were other people on board. That’s what this post is about; the other people on your ship. You need the people God has put in your life in order to help you navigate and fulfill your destiny.
Are You Leaving Your Home Naked?
by
The personal wardrobe of one of Chicago’s wealthiest women was estimated at twenty-five thousand pieces of apparel. The clothes included more than one thousand dresses—with a purse to match each dress—some five hundred coats and fifteen hundred pairs of shoes. 1 You have heard the phrase: “Clothes make the man”? The Bible uses ‘clothing’ language to describe the state of our redemption in Christ. There are things that we are to put on and things that we are not to put on, things that are to clothe our lives and things that are not to clothe our lives. The question for us as representatives of Jesus is this; are you wearing the right clothes or are you leaving your home naked?
How You Can Have a Revelation of God’s Power
by
In the book of Ephesians, Paul prays for the Ephesian believers. He writes in detail the exact words that he utters to God the Father for them. You can find these words starting in Ephesians 1:15-23 and in Ephesians 3:14-19. If Paul thought that these prayers were important to pray for the Ephesian church, do you think that you can pray the same prayers for yourself? Thank God, the answer to that is a resounding yes. God wants you to have a revelation of His power. I have prayed these prayers hundreds and hundreds of times over the course of my life. It has enriched my life and it will absolutely elevate yours. Let’s take a particular look at the prayer in chapter one.
How Can Your Motives Qualify as Righteous Before God?
by
The Sermon on the Mount primarily addresses the issue of righteousness. Jesus speaks of hungering and thirsting for it (Matt. 5:6); He addresses being persecuted for it (Matt. 5:10); seeking it (Matt. 6:33) and making sure you have the right kind of it (Matt. 5:20). What is one of the keys to insuring ‘right righteousness?’ How can know our ‘works’, the things we try to accomplish for other people, are the right kind of works? The answer is in making sure our motives are pure.
#S2-029: How You Can Have Freedom and Release Supernaturally [Podcast]
The Season of Jubilee
by
Freedom is an enamoring idea. But, as one gentleman said, “Liberty is always unfinished business.” In the earthly sense this is true. The constant struggle for freedom is seen across the globe. But as far as heaven is concerned, the struggle is over. Jesus came to set men free. And free they are, if they only know it. And so the gospel, God’s personal declaration for freedom, goes forward liberating all who embrace it. You can be free. You can experience release at the hands of a supernatural God.
