Did you know that until the year 1100, most people in Europe had only one name? With the population increasing it became difficult to distinguish among people, so surnames (last names) were added. These names came primarily from four different sources: A man’s occupation such as John Cook or John Miller; location such as John Overhill or John Brook; a man’s relationship with his father like John’s son would be Johnson; and lastly personal characteristics like John Small, John Short, John Longfellow, or Peter Widehips. How did Jesus acquire His Name? In these week’s podcast, we are going to look at how Jesus acquired His Name as a man and how you, as a man, can use this divine weapon in your everyday life.
