Use me God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself. — Martin Luther King Jr.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less (Crown Business, 2014)
This book was the ‘read of the year’ for me for 2014. The book addresses the over-committed lifestyle. If you have trouble saying ‘no’ to people and obligations, this book is for you. If you are trying to ‘do it all’ instead of concentrating and focusing on the vital few things you are equipped to do, then this book is for you. It will help you pare down your life to pursue what is absolutely essential to fulfill your purpose on planet earth.
God has never made it a habit to use things that do not belong to Him. He uses those things that are yielded to Him. Things that are consecrated. Things that are sanctified and set apart for His use. Do you want God to use you? Then you must present your body. God makes two requirements for an acceptable sacrifice. It must be HOLY and it must be HIS.” — A.A. Allen
The Lighthouse
Class Description
by
The Lighthouse is a group of dedicated believers pursuing the biblical purpose of God to be a beacon of light in the midst of an ever darkening world. This pursuit comes through personal fellowships, in-class relationships, and engaged ministry all with a special emphasis on divine healing and Holy Spirit living. Believers should be burning and passionate in their pursuit of God; desiring to know, yearning to grow, and most importantly, learning to flow out to others. Just as a lighthouse illuminates the night to guide ships safely to harbor we know that only as burning lights can we guide people to Jesus.
The ministry of the Word of God is center stage at the Lighthouse. In the natural, meals can be served two ways. You can take a baked potato out of the vegetable drawer. Add a nice rib-eye steak to that plate out of the back part of the refrigerator, where it’s nice and cold. You can then add those two items onto a gold plate. Place a little garnish on the side and serve it up. The result? It’s beautiful and it has all the correct elements for a wonderful meal. The only problem? It’s still a cold meal. Take that same meal, that same baked potato, that same rib-eye steak and put some heat underneath them and what a wonderfully delicious difference. The Word of God works the same way. Take the rightly divided Word, ministered out of heart burning and hungry for God, and you have the essence of The Lighthouse. People should feel the heat of your passion for God when they are around you. Believers should be hot and passionate in their pursuit of God. Desiring to know Him. Yearning to grow in Him. The only way we are going to get ‘hot enough’ is by getting close enough to the flame. When people asked John Wesley for the secret of his success in revival meetings, John replied, ‘I set myself on fire and people come from miles around to watch me burn.’ The light of your flame, the heat of your passion for God should be sensed and known. This is The Lighthouse at its core.
Matthew 3:11 (ESV)
11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Hearing What the Spirit is Saying unto the Church! In 1Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul lays out for the church an explanation of Spiritual Gifts. If you read the list, you will see that three of the gifts are vocal. Prophecy is words inspired by the Spirit in a known language. Tongues are words inspired by the Spirit in an unknown tongue. Interpretation of tongues is a Spirit given rendering of an unknown tongue. Below is an example of the gift of prophecy.
