“I have never met a person who took a test without wanting to know what to study. Nor have I met a soldier who was willing to go into battle without his gun. Also, I have never met a pilot who wanted to lose power while still in the air. But I have met Christians who were perfectly willing to live their lives without God’s power” ¹. Living a Christian life without God’s power is as ludicrous as trying to drive a car without gas. Knowing about and seeing examples of spiritual power aids the believer in His walk. You can, then, have confidence in the strength of the Lord on your behalf.

Revelation 7:11–12 (NKJV)
11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever Amen.”

ILLUSTRATION: A Fifth Kind of Power
Scientists have long believed that there were only four forces in nature: gravity, electromagnetism, the binding force of the atom, and the weak force of radioactive decay. Now they are debating the possibility of a fifth force. Christians have always believed in a fifth force. They believe in spiritual power. ².

• Spiritual power is what causes the chains of sin to fall off a man.
• Spiritual power is what cleans up a drunken dope addicted man.
• Spiritual power is what turns a murderer like Saul into a saint like Paul.
• Spiritual power is what causes disease and sickness to fall of men.
• Spiritual power dries up cancers, vanquishes Aids, and annihilates heart disease.

• God is loaded with it – He is saturated with it – it is literally dripping off of Him.
• The Throne Of God is where God resides and where the power is.

Dunamis – Translated ‘power’ in Rev. 7:12

Revelation 7:12 (ESV)
12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

• Notice, these words spoken to God by the angels, the elders and the four living beasts. They ascribed ‘power and might’ to God. They acknowledge His power.
• It is important to acknowledged God’s power here on earth.

DEFINITION: dunamis (Thayer) – strength, power, ability – inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature. It is power for performing miracles.

• Total Occurrences in the King James version of the Bible: 123
• Dunamis is dynamic supernatural power and ability. It is supernatural power given to do supernatural things.
• According to Greek legend, Hercules had this type of power.
• God is dripping with this power. He is no legend.

Ischus – Translated ‘might’ in Rev. 7:12

Psalm 29:4–5 (NKJV)
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, Yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon.

• His voice has the power to snap trees in half.
• The scripture doesn’t say God’s voice break little small trees.
  • It says He breaks cedar trees.
  • The world’s largest Red Cedar tree is in Washington State. It measures 19.4 feet in diameter. It is 178 feet tall and estimated at 1000 years old.
  • God’s voice snaps trees like this in half.

DEFINITION: ischus (Thayer) – Ability, force, strength, might

• This word conveys the picture of a very, very, very strong man – a man like a bodybuilder, – a man who is ‘able’, a man who is mighty, a man who has great muscular abilities.
• God is able
• God is mighty
• God is muscular
• There is no force in the universe, equal, to the muscular ability of God.

We Know God Has Both Dunamis and Ischus Power Because He Demonstrated This Power In Nature

Solar Power

• The sun radiates more energy in one second than man has used collectively since the beginning of civilization. A typical quasar, in one second, throws out enough energy to supply the earth’s electrical needs for billions of years.

• You could fit 1 million earth’s into the sun, if you hollowed it out.
• French scientists built a solar furnace with the use of 20,000 mirrors that concentrated the suns rays to create a temperature in excess of 6000 degrees. The beam was so powerful it could cut a fiery hole through a 3/8 inch steel plate in 60 seconds time.

Galactic Power

• The Milky Way is a family of more than 100 billion stars.
• How much is 100 billion? – if you could count 250 stars a minute – and you did it day and night – it would take you 1000 years to count to 100 billion.
• And these scientists say there may be as many as 100 billion other galaxies in the universe. And they believe that the billions of these galaxies stars may have millions of planets like our earth. All of that came of 4 words emanated from the throne ‘LET THERE BE LIGHT.’ This is power.
• The distance to the nearest galaxy is nearly 1.5 million light years – that is the distance that light will travel in 1.5 million years going 186,000 miles per second.
• This distance is so great that if every citizen of the United States owned 65,000 books and you decided to place one letter from the first book on each mile of that distance – and continued placing a letter on each mile until the first book was exhausted and then went through the whole of 65,000 volumes – one letter per mile – for 320 million people in the United States – YOU WOULD RUN OUT OF BOOKS BEFORE YOU MADE THE DISTANCE!!!
• The total universe is 8–10 billion light years long!
• All of that came out of one fellow sitting on the throne!

Nuclear Power

• One of the world’s largest nuclear facilities (at the time of this illustration) is near Decatur Alabama. It’s fuel is Uranium. One gram of Uranium 235 fission’s and creates 20 tons of TNT. One gram is the size of a small birthday candle. When converted to electrical energy, it is enough power to sustain 40,000 people for one day.
• God’s creation pulsates with power!

We Know God Has Dunamis and Ischus Power because He Demonstrated this Power On Behalf of His People

• God’s muscles are backing you up
• With one stroke of His hand, God flung the universe into existence for the man He created.
• With one stroke of His hand, God wiped out an entire civilization during Noah’s day
• With one stroke of His hand, Sodom and Gomorrah was devastated.
• With one stroke of His hand, the most powerful army, Egypt, was totally annihilated in the Red Sea.
• What about Sennacherib, King of Assyria?
• Notice the taunts of Rabshakeh against Israel. Read Isaiah 36 – 37 (NKJV)
• Notice God’s response.

• God didn’t even handle this Himself. He sent one of His angels to take care of this problem.
• What if He arose from the Throne and took care of it Himself?
• God remaining seated is a display of mercy because If He ever gets up, the whole planet is toast.

The Greatest Display of Power Ever

• God rolled up His sleeves and flexed His muscle the day He raised Jesus from the dead.
• It was the greatest display of power ever seen.

Ephesians 1:16–23 (NKJV)
16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power (DUNAMIS) toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (ISCHUS) 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

• Dunamis and Ischus again in the same passage.
• Paul told us to pray to get a revelation of this power towards us as who believe.
• What does that mean? It means this podcast is no way near enough to get over to your spirit the greatness of God’s power.
  • You need revelation. You need the illumination that only comes from the Spirit.

Your Already Plugged Up to That Power!

• You don’t have to go to the Throne to get access to this power – even though the Throne is the place of power.
• You don’t have to go to the PSO power plant to get power for your house. PSO has provided a power outlet to your house. All you have to do is plug in. All you have to do is flip the switch.
• You don’t have to go to heaven to beg God to give you power. No, He has provided a way whereby you can plug in. He said:

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be? witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
